No.
Is the challenge only eligible for tickets purchased through certain channels?
No, the challenge is eligible for all ticket purchases channels.
For transfers and connecting flights, how many flown segments will be earned?
If the two segments have different flight numbers, they will be earned as two separate flights.
Do flights with award class upgrade count?
Award class upgrades will count as the original ticket class. The original ticket class will count as long as it meets the conditions.
Am I eligible for other challenges and promotions if I take part in this challenge?
If you complete the challenge by achieving the target through regular flights or other promotions during the challenge period, you are eligible for the first upgrade as long as it is valid.
If my flown segments are not credited to my account after my flight, will it affect my challenge progress? What is the deadline for claiming missing flown segments? Can flown segments that are retroactively credited to my account after the challenge period be still used for upgrades?
In this case, your challenge progress will be affected. Please claim your missing flown segments within the challenge period. Any unclaimed flown segments will not be earned for the challenge.
How are involuntary upgrades or downgrades earned for the challenge?
Challenge progress is based on the original ticket class. Flight counts will be based on the original paid ticket class. The original ticket class will count as long as it meets the conditions.
Must my flown segments be credited to my PhoenixMiles account to count for the challenge? Will my flown segments in my other Star Alliance member carriers’ FFP accounts be counted?
Only flown segments that are credited to your PhoenixMiles account will be counted. Flown segments in other Star Alliance member carriers’ FFP accounts will not count.
Challenge 1: Any Routes
Silver match - Must fly 4 segments within the 90 day challenge period in a qualifying fare class, on an eligible airline.
Gold match - Must fly 8 segments (or 4 segments in any first or business class revenue class) within the 90 day challenge period in a qualifying fare class, on an eligible airline.
Eligible Flights operated and marketed by Air China Family carriers (Air China, Beijing Airlines, Dalian Airlines, Air China Inner Mongolia, Shenzhen Airlines, Shandong Airlines, Air Macau).
Challenge 2: China-Europe Routes
Silver match - Must fly 2 segments within the 90 day challenge period in a qualifying fare class, on an eligible airline.
Gold match - Must fly 4 segments (or 2 segments in any first or business class revenue class) within the 90 day challenge period in a qualifying fare class, on an eligible airline.
Eligible Flights operated and marketed by Air China Family carriers (Air China, Beijing Airlines, Dalian Airlines, Air China Inner Mongolia, Shenzhen Airlines, Shandong Airlines, Air Macau).
Only applicable to routes between China and Europe, and an international flight segment/segments must be included. Domestic segments of transfer/connecting international flights are ineligible to earn flown segments.
* The challenge of PhoenixMiles Silver status is valid for SAS Silver members who are not an elite member of PhoenixMiles before the campaign.
The challenge of PhoenixMiles Gold status is valid for SAS Gold and Diamond members who are not a Gold and above member of PhoenixMiles before the campaign.
What is the Status Match and how does it work?
From September 1, 2024, SAS will no longer be part of Star Alliance. We understand that many frequent flyers wish to continue enjoying the connectivity, benefits and perks that come with Star Alliance Silver and Star Alliance Gold status.
From now until November 30, 2024, eligible SAS EuroBonus status holders may
apply for a Status Match with a participating Star Alliance member carrier.
I don't have SAS EuroBonus Silver, Gold, Diamond or Pandion Status, can I apply?
This offer is only valid for eligible status holders of SAS EuroBonus.
Can I Status Match into more than one Star Alliance member airline with my SAS Status?
No, you may only Status Match your SAS Eurobonus account into
one Star Alliance member airline. Once your Status Match application has been submitted, you cannot change your mind later. We recommend looking through the available offers if you are not sure which Star Alliance member airline is best for your future travel requirements.
This includes any travellers who have previous completed a Status Match with Lufthansa, who may not apply for another Star Alliance airline Status Match.
Is there a fee to apply for a Status Match?
Participation in the promotion is free of charge.
I recently did a Status Match with SAS Eurobonus. Can I use this newly status matched Eurobonus account to match into a Star Alliance member airline?
No, to be eligible for the status match, your status with SAS must have been earned through flying or other program activity.
If my application is declined, can I apply to match into a different Star Alliance member airline?
No, if you are declined because you are ineligible for the promotion, you will not be eligible for status with any airline.

Will I lose my SAS Eurobonus status if I apply for a status match?
The SAS Eurobonus status you hold is not affected, although from September 1, 2024, as SAS will no longer be part of Star Alliance from that date, your SAS EuroBonus status benefits may no longer be available on other Star Alliance carriers. To continue enjoying the perks and benefits of Star Alliance you are welcome to apply for a Status Match to a participating Star Alliance member airline. If approved, you will receive the equivalent status that you currently hold with SAS Eurobonus with the airline you select.
How long is the Status Match offer valid for?
The promotion ends on 30 November 2024 or earlier at the discretion of Star Alliance, the individual participating carriers, or StatusMatch.com
What information must I provide to participate in the Status Match promotion?
To participate in the promotion, you need your frequent flyer number for the airline you want to match into, your eligible other frequent flyer status card number, and a valid e-mail address at which we can reach you.
During the registration process, we will also ask you for proof of your eligible frequent flyer status (e.g., a photo of your status card), and you may be requested to provide and complete an identity check, including your passport or driver's licence.
What happens if my application is not approved?
If your application is not approved, you will be notified by e-mail.

Will I get a membership card or bag tags?
Please review the terms and FAQs of the specific airline you are applying for or ask them directly.
I have lifetime status, will that be matched?
No, lifetime status is specific to each airline and some do not offer it. It is not available under any of these offers. You do not lose your lifetime status SAS, in fact having that security gives you every reason to try a better Star Alliance airline.
Are there any requirements to keep the status?
Each airline has different rules and terms so please review them carefully and make sure of your choice before applying.
Can I claim past sectors as eligible flights under the Status Match offer?
No. Only new flights taken after your approved status match has been upgraded will count towards the qualification criteria required by each airline. Many of these do not include codeshare flights. Please review each airline’s status match offer carefully as changes cannot be made after approval.
Do reward seats count as eligible sectors?
No.
Do I have to enter my Star Alliance member number or EuroBonus number?
You must use your Star Alliance airline program’s member number to receive credit on your account for all Star Alliance and partner airline flights.
I am flying tomorrow and was approved but the upgrade doesn’t show in my account yet?
Sorry you’ll need to wait for the airline to process the upgrade. Each airline has different processing times and the team at
[email protected] do not have access to check or fast track these.
